Hello Everyone
I am writing to you from my current trip to Peru.
I was invited by a friend, who i have been on holiday with to Turkey and Portugal in the past to join her and her parents in their converted lorry whilst they drive across Peru.
I couldn’t really say no, what an incredible once in a lifetime opportunity.
I love vanlife or Overlandering as they call it here, its something I have wanted to do for a very long time myself, however ive never had the extra funds to make my dreams a reality. My grandparents had a converted ambulance that they used a campervan when my mum was a child, so I grew up hearing stories about that and have always quite fancied doing something similar myself.
I have been in Peru for two weeks now, i have another two weeks here before I head home. We have packed in quite a lot already, places like Laguna Parón & Laguna 69. Lakes that are high up into the mountains over 4000ft above sea level. The only way to get to them is on foot.
We have been to the seaside, the mountains and the desert so far and now we are headed to Cusco to see Maccu picchu, the Sacred Valley and of course Rainbow mountain. Its been a lot of driving, incredible views of places that the average visitors to Peru wouldn’t get to see as they are not driving like we are.
We broke down today, a simple issue of a loose battery connection that later turned into a big issue when the truck lost all power. Luckily enough my friends Dad is very handy and managed to make a temporary fix until we could get it to a mechanic that fortunately enough was less than a 10 minute drive away.
After two hours we are now back on the road and I have finally started my long awaited blog/website. I realise now that I haven’t introduced myself properly so that will be my next post, signing off for now, Shar Xx
